PART 5: SHINING THE LIGHT ON INVISIBLE TALENT

December 8th Thank you to all who joined ARA’s “Shining the Light on Invisible Talent,” the final installment of our five-part Allyship, Advocacy and Taking Action series, produced in partnership with BWISE, Chicago Tech Academy, and i.c.stars. Our final event got to the core of ARA’s mission: advancing women in the workplace. Black women and women of color, along with transgender people and people with disabilities, face the greatest obstacles when it comes to career advancement.

PART 4: BREAKING THROUGH POVERTY LINES THROUGH EDUCATION & JOB CREATION RECAP

November 10th In the fourth event of our “Allyship, Advocacy and Taking Action” series, our panel of experts challenged listeners to rethink the essential economic role education, training opportunities, jobs, mentorship, recognition, advancement and ownership play in creating equity in workplaces. They shared their knowledge and perspectives on oppressive poverty and discussed how we can be effective in the struggle to build equitable educational and career opportunities for students, job-seekers, and professionals.

PART 3: CHANGE STARTS AT HOME RECAP

October 13th The World Economic Forum predicts full economic parity is 257 years away (roughly 8 generations!), and that was before COVID. At ARA, we say that’s far too long. In this Webinar, we looked at what we can do to accelerate the journey by starting at home and what can be done with our children to break the cycles of racism, sexism, stereotyping and other forms of bias.

PART 2: STRUCTURAL RACISM EXAMINED RECAP

September 15th During the discussion, our panel of experts explored how institutional racism shapes lives from childhood to adulthood in the United States, discussing where structural racism thrives in America’s institutions. We also examined how LGBTQ, people with disabilities and women are affected by the written and unwritten rules of these institutions. And, we addressed intersecting demographic traits that shape our unique identities and profoundly affect our experiences at work.

The Hope Needs You

Recap and Celebration of our 1st Allyship, Advocacy & Taking Action Event “The hope needs you.” Those are the moving words that helped bring to conclusion the first in ARA’s five-part Allyship, Advocacy & Taking Action series produced in partnership with Black Women in Science and Engineering (BWISE), Chicago Tech Academy and i.c.stars.
